Claiming Scripture

I hear many Christians "claiming scripture". They "claim" scriptures about healing, deliverance or blessing. They act as though if they "claim" a scripture that  God will then act on their behalf to bring about whatever it is that they are seeking.

 I wonder why no one ever "claims" this verse: 

Matthew 19:21New King James Version (NKJV)21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

Seems to me that most Christians have it "backwards" these days. Too many Christians act as if God is their servant instead of them being God's servant. There are too many prayers asking God to do this and do that (i.e. God bless my finances, enlarge my territory....) instead of saying here am I, YOUR will be done. God forgive US (i.e. me included).
